Residential Water Meter Technology

Choice Maters...Offering Mechanical and Electronic options for New England Water Utilities

Badger Meter Residential Mechanical and Electronic Metering Options
Today’s utility customers have diverse requirements. Badger Meter residential meters are designed to meet those requirements, while driving accuracy and revenue. Industry leading Recordall® nutating disc and E-Series® ultrasonic meter technologies are available with housings manufactured from lead free alloys and engineered polymer. Your choice in a water metering solutions counts – choose from the many Badger Meter offerings to find a solution that meets your specific needs.

Choice Matters...Offered in 5/8" to 2" Sizes

Water Utilities can choose between the Industry leading Recordall® nutating disc or E-Series® ultrasonic meter technologies...the choice is yours.

Recordall Disc Series Meters

Recordall® Disc Series water meters provide an accurate, cost-effective solution for your residential smart water metering needs. Combining the accuracy of positive displacement meters with the reliability and economy of nutating disc technology, the simple but efficient design of this meter makes it an ideal solution for measuring flow in your AMR/AMI system.

E-Series Meters

E-Series Ultrasonic water meters from Badger Meter use solid-state technology in a compact, totally encapsulated, weatherproof, and UV-resistant housing, suitable for residential and commercial applications. Equipped with an easy-to-read, 9-digit LCD display, the ultrasonic meter presents consumption, rate of flow, reverse-flow indication, and alarms. With no moving parts, the E-Series Ultrasonic meter improves reliability and has greater extended low flow accuracy compared to mechanical meters.

Turbo Series Meters

Recordall® Turbo Series meters are the smart choice for larger facilities, including hotels, apartment buildings, commercial and industrial buildings, manufacturing and processing plants, irrigation centers, and refining operations. The no-nonsense performance of this meter will help reduce your day-to-day maintenance and replacement costs, while capturing every billable penny through greater accuracy and efficiency.

Compound Series Meters

Recordall® Compound Series meters combine two metering technologies in one innovative package. A positive displacement chamber measures low flow, while a turbine chamber records high flow. HIGH QUALITY water is your primary goal to your customers

Our smart water solutions now encompass flow measurement, temperature, pressure and water quality parameters. With products from Analytical Technology, Inc. (ATi) and s::can GmbH, both Badger Meter brands, we have a comprehensive water quality monitoring offering that is transforming the water industry and enhancing how users manage their water systems.

Water quality monitoring is done throughout the entire water cycle from rivers and streams and source water supply through water production so that you know what's leaving the plant and entering the distribution network where the pipes and the time it takes to reach the customer can affect its quality and then you have to do it on the wastewater side as you're collecting and treating it for either reusing or disposal in a water body or land application. Badger Meter is able to monitor water quality throughout this entire water cycle.

How does Badger help you monitor water quality in the distribution network? The Pipe Scan device is installed directly on a pipe through a tap on pipes 2" and larger. This type of installation produces no waste stream. This modular system measures up to 10 parameters under full system pressure and again with no waste stream or bypass line. Within this device are our spectrometer probes measuring the optical spectra in water as long with electrochemical sensors. This allows us to measure the organic turbidity and chlorine with no reagents.

MetriNet is a low-powered battery-operated device that allows you to mount it anywhere within the distribution network. The batteries will last between 18 and 24 months, and they're easily sourced locally for replacement. This station can measure up to 8 parameters, and the sensors can be calibrated for primary standards for high accuracy. It utilizes a single sample stream to reduce water consumption. It can connect directly through SCADA or again through cellular for a plug-and-play into beacon software.

Using a combination of proprietary sensors, a cloud based software platform and support services, Badger’s network monitoring solutions identify and locate damaging pressure changes, also known as pressure transients, in both pressurized water and sewer pipe networks. Not only can we identify where they occur, we can identify where they originate in the system. The collected pressure data is used to identify and locate breaks on distribution networks and force main systems. One of our sensors is designed for versatile acoustic leak detection on drinking water distribution pipelines. To help clients make the most of their investments in these solutions, we have a team of experts who provide support services, including deployment planning, sensor installation and data interpretation.

There are 4 variations of our PIPEMINDER sensor technology. All four of the sensors collect high resolution pressure data. The standard sensor is used for water distribution networks, it has an internal pressure transducer and provides transient analysis and pressure change or break alerting functionality.

Data collected by the devices is sent directly to a web-based software platform via cellular network, where it is analyzed and visualized. The data can be sent up to every 15-minutes, but the devices are intelligent so they will detect an event that falls outside of normal parameters and immediately send high-resolution data which will then trigger any defined notifications via email or text. The pressure data is collected continuously 24/7 at 128 samples per second. The acoustic data sampling rate is over 5,000 samples per second.
